ABOUTSKI
Formed from the ashes of Tijmes Woudenberg and Aaron James Cole’s former band, Mad Stream came to life in an eastside Amsterdam basement.
After trying various guitar players-- that didn’t quite fit the group’s sonic aesthetics—Woudenberg opted to divide himself in two and play both bass and guitar.
He bought himself a baritone guitar, got his fx in order, and began the bewitching brew of sounds that remarkably radiate from one individual.
Acidy old school distortion and waves of drippy, trippy lines.
They began as a two piece, Cole's hard hitting, frenetic beats meeting Woudenberg's psychedelic sounds.
Soon Woudenberg’s son Nino Terluin joined as second drummer and, along with California transplant Cole, bashes the skins and finesses the hihat, switching between stand up and sit down kits—cementing the groove from various angles.
When Terluin sits down at the drumkit Cole jumps up to sing and cause a ruckus.
Both Woudenberg and Cole write songs and divvy up vocal duties.
Terluin’s sweet spot background vocals can be heard on tracks like “Just You and Me” from their debut LP release Shadows on the Sun.
